Welcome

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Industrial Assessment Center is one of 26 centers supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at universities across the country. The Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) provides confidential energy, productivity, and waste assessments at no cost or obligation to eligible small and mid-sized manufacturers. This, in turn, enables them to become more efficient and competitive.

Assessment teams are composed of a UL Lafayette faculty member and undergraduate (upper-level) and graduate engineering students. During a site visit, students take measurements to audit the manner in which a facility uses energy and resources. Then, with guidance from professors, students write a report that identifies opportunities to save energy, reduce waste, and improve productivity. An average annual savings of $55,000 is realized after implementation of IAC assessment recommendations.
