The Student Advisory Council
During the Fall 1997 semester, the ITEC Student Advisory Council was
formed to help the department be more aware of the concerns and needs of the
students.
The mission of the ITEC Student Advisory Council is to improve and enhance
the ITEC program by offering student representation to faculty and
administration on academic issues affecting students by: providing feedback
on course design, scheduling, and offerings; assisting in advising by
creating a student mentoring program; recruiting students to the ITEC major
by actively participating in events planned for recruitment; and serving as
a spokes group for the ITEC students.
This council consists of six students…one from each class, one two-year
student, and one alternate. The current ITEC Student Advisory Council
members are:
Robert Ousse, Jr. - Sophomore Class
Yvonne Breaux - 2-Year Program
Gerald Whitley, Jr. - Alternate
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE)

multi-disciplinary professional organization of trained practitioners
responsible for protecting people, property and the environment.
In Louisiana, the student chapter works closely with the Lafayette area
professional chapter, particularly with regard to meetings, tours and
student internships. Faculty advisors for the student chapter are Industrial
Technology Professors Thomas E. Landry and William E. Mueller.
